  • STARTING TIME: Every day at 11 AM and 3 PM (2 PM in winter) (they are a little different, please read below)
  • AREA: Prague Castle and Castle District
  • MEETING POINT: Klarov, Malostranska metro exit (red umbrella with 100 on it)
  • ENDING POINT: Prague Castle (near the vineyard of St. Wenceslas)
  • TOUR DURATION: 2 hours 15 minutes (incl. 10 min. break for photos and toilets)

Our 11 AM tour includes the big change of guards with music, which is the main ceremonial change that takes place only once a day. The 11 AM tour is perfect for those who would like to buy tickets for Prague Castle's attractions. After the tour is over you will still have around 3 hours to explore different museums within the Prague Castle complex.

Our afternoon tour includes Golden Lane, Prague's most picturesque street. Golden Lane opens for free after 4 PM in winter and 5 PM in summer. We finish the tour at Golden Lane, so you can explore, take beautiful pictures or shop for souvenirs.

Both of the tours cover the same sights otherwise.

We start the tour directly below Prague Castle and take a tram to the Castle District from where it's a few minutes walk to Prague Castle - downhill 🙃. We think that is the most comfortable way to see Prague Castle.

  • You will enter the FREE part of the St. Vitus Cathedral.
  • You will visit all of the courtyards of Prague Castle and will see all of the historically important buildings which are in the free area of Prague Castle.
  • Watch this YouTube video which explains what you can see in Prague Castle for free and what you can see with tickets.

Things to know before visiting Prague Castle Free Tour

  • There are metal detectors positioned at every entrance to Prague Castle. Do not bring any weapons (knives, pepper sprays, etc.), there is no place to store these at Prague Castle.
  • You will need a public transport ticket for 30 CZK (1,2 EUR). You can purchase the ticket at the beginning of the tour.
  • In winter, it gets pretty windy in the castle. Multiple layers of clothes are the way to go. Wear comfortable shoes.
